Kumatani, Hanaoka, Matsuoka, who are second graders in the science course, and Tamai, who is a first grader in the science course, participated in the 32nd JST Math Caravan held by the faculty of Environmental Science and Technology in Okayama University.
Five lectures were given there. They were “A mathematical model of communication,” “The mathematic that seeks scenario of evolution,” “Mathematic and software in manufacturing,” “Fundamental theorems and complex numbers of algebra,” and “Turn Moebius origami.” All of these lectures made the students more interested in mathematics.

Finally it was the last day of our fieldwork in the United States. Under the blue sky, we left the hotel and arrived at Matsuyama Airport via John F. Kennedy International Airport, Narita Airport, and Haneda Airport at 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 2nd. There was some troubles, but everyone returned safely. We had completely different experiences in this 6 days of the fieldwork. We want to make use of these experiences in our future school lives. We’d like to thank Dr. Mani, everyone at Connecticut University, everyone at PridgePort Aquaculture Science and Technology, our tour conductor, and drivers.
