2/23/2021 Roller Coaster

2021年3月30日 14時27分

On February 23rd, we had a STEAM (Science Technology Enginnering Art Mathmatics) educational exchange with Hawaii University and Maryknoll School in Honolulu.
Three teams from Maryknoll School and fifteen teams (one hundred and thirty-three  students) joined.  We designed our own roller coasters under these conditions; the base must measure 36cm×48cm, the height must be 2m at the highest point and 25 kinds of sheets of paper were available.  It took us about two and a half months to complete them.    The goal was to get the bottom in the slowest possible time.  Creativity and teamwork were needed.  We’d like to continue having such exchanges from now.

2/20/2021 Hawaii University Space Laboratory

2021年3月30日 14時22分

On February 20th, online presentations were held using zoom by the hosts, Prof. Rene and Art Kimura, who are the chiefs of the consortium supported by Hawaii University Space Laboratory.  Forty-six students from our school participated.
They illustrated the extraordinary phenomena that occur in outer space by showing various scientific demonstrations concerning the life in ISS (International Space Station), the universe and rockets.  We could learn a lot about outer space.  Though it was difficult, we could understand more than before.
After the lectures we had a Q&A session.  We did some research about space and local news about it in advance therefore we could have an active exchange.

2021/02/07 2021/02/14 Ehime Science Challenge 2020

2021年3月23日 15時27分

Every year, poster presentations and exchange meetings are held at Ehime University, but from the perspective of preventing the spread of Covid-19, “Ehime Science Challenge 2020” has gone online.
This year, 202 students from 21 different high schools submitted a total of 63 research themes, 37 in the general category and 26 in the program category, and in conjunction with the release of the presentation videos on February 7, an online networking event was held for the participant of the Science Challenge.  During this exchange, the participants were divided into five areas: mathematics, information, physics, chemistry, biology, and geology, and introduced each other’s research that they had been working hard on, despite on-going pandemic, and asked each other questions. Graduate students from Ehime University also participated as hosts, and it was a meaningful time for them to sick sharp questions about their research from the graduate students’ point of view, and to ask questions about their research and university life.  ( 209HR  Rei Onishi )

An online commendation ceremony was held.  The announcement of results the two groups, “The influence of the solvent on color development of the Iron 2 Iron” and “Possibility of energy saving flight by depend on usage mechanics the wings of the butterfly” were honored with the effort award of the general section.  The Broadcasting club of our school acted as the MC.  ( 209HR  Toyooka Anna )

1/30 Tobeyaki Family

2021年3月23日 15時25分

On January 30th, Saturday, “Tobeyaki family” had a talkabout their evaluation methods on the colors of the test pieces.

Our research started from “Umechanzu”.  “Ginnanze” established RPG method and will beused in the future research presentations. Therefore, at the study meeting, “Koume brothers” consisting of the 1stgrade students discussed whether to use a tool called Go Spectro to analyzereflected lights in our research.  Weborrowed the tool from Professor Hayashi, who is in charge of EGS at EhimeUniversity. It is used to analyze the reflected lights and it may be possibleto find the elements that affect the reflected lights.

Analyzing the data and comparing them, thediscussion lasted for more than two hours. We decided to use both of the RPGmethod and Gospectro.

In the future, “Tobeyaki family” will worktogether to report our research to everyone. ( 109HR Rin Miyamoto )

English presentation meeting

2021年3月23日 14時41分

On January 28th, an English presentation meeting was heldby the 1st year students of the science and mathematics course atMatsuyama Minami High school.  Theypresented their one-year research in English.

This time the presentations wereperformed by the selected teams, the Earth Science Group, the Biology Group andthe Mathematics Group.  Everyone activelyasked questions, so it was a very good presentation meeting.

Inaddition, we invited three lecturers from Ehime University to make comments aboutour presentations.  They said, “thewillingness to communicate in English was wonderful.   Let’s study together at EhimeUniversity.”  The students who were incharge of the presentations and moderators had spent a lot of time preparingfor the meeting during the winter vacation. The hardship will surely give them a lot of confidence in the future andwill be food for the future research.

~Impressions~ It was hard for me to expresswhat I want to say.  So, I want to studyEnglish more and I will tell my research to the world in English in the future. ( 109HR Shun Hotta )
