2020/11/06 Data Business

2020年12月18日 16時08分

12 students joined a study meeting online to take part in the data science contest on November 6th.  The title of the lecture was “Effort of supporting restaurants by Gurunabi” and about “with Colona Virus”.  One was about what Gurunabi does and how to communicate with restaurants.  They also talked about the present condition of the restaurants during Corona Virus.  The topic was “Creating smiles with Food”.  From the Gurunabi data, the concept of new styles of food manufacturing was made.  We had time to ask questions and had fun.

Through this experiences, we learned many things.  We have never known the effects of Corona on restaurants.  So we were surprised to learn from this lecture.  The university students who joined this lecture had sharp perspectives.  It was moving.  If we have such a chance again, we will try much more positively.

2020/11/06 “Data Science 1 Lecture”

2020年11月27日 15時07分

“Data Science 1 Lecture” was held for first- year students in both general- course and science-and-mathematics-course in November 6th, in our school gymnasium.  The lecture was by Mr. Himeno, a professor of Shiga University Faculty of Data Science Associate.  First–year-students are researching by using RESAS DATA in the class of “Data Science” which is our school setting subject.  Mr. Himeno said, “Data Science can be used on a lot of field. For example, mainly AI, a self- driving, weather forecast, home electrical appliances, purchase and medical”.  Also he told us how to use graphs, figures and text mining in Data Science.  Students well understood about Data Science and deeply interested in it.  Mr. Himeno, we appreciate your speech.

It is dangerous for us to use a lot of numbers easily. I thought that numbers are beautiful.

2020/11/1 The GSC Hiroshima step stage

2020年11月27日 15時01分

The GSC Hiroshima step stage research project was held online on November 1st.

We made a poster of the research plan in each field and exchanged opinions with the judges online, which was very fruit for us.  We made a poster presentation to select participants that would go to the “jump stage”.  Also, I felt the opinions of the professors were different from ours. ( 209HR Yanase Shunsuke,  Kuroda Kosei )

We made a presentation today.  I could broaden my technological vision by watching other groups’ presentations.  Also, as for my presentation, I could notice some problems in my presentations by getting advice from the university professors.  (209HR  Akihiro Tomita )

I was very nervous with my poster presentation this time, but, I could finish it successfully. Also, valuable advice the professor gave us was very informative.  ( 209HR Rune Matsuura )

2020/10/28 a training support program

2020年11月27日 14時58分

Wednesday, October 28th, 8th period, a training support program for 42 first year students in science and mathematics course were given by Mr. Kubo of Ehime University, Graduated School for Teacher Education ml.  The title was “peeling of arranges”. We had been using a chemical reaction to peel oranges since last week.  This time, the students conducted the experiment.  They were sure to be careful because they were using used NaOH, HCL and other dangerous chemicals.  Based on Mr. Kubo’s hints, the students enjoyed competing to see which group could peel the oranges cleanly.  The students were surprised that the neutralization reaction that they were learning now is used to make canned oranges.  At the same time, it was a very meaningful hour that deepened our interest in chemical phenomena.  It was a little difficult to understand, but we were able to finish the program in a good way.

46 students took part in “The annual Astronaut Lacy Beach Day of Discovery ” hosted by University of Hawaii universe research institute.
Besides the Keynote address, the lectures on the professors’ researches on STEAM education.  The lectures started at 6:30 a.m. because of the time difference between Japan and Hawaii.  We could feel their enthusiasm and passion for their research through the lectures.
After the lectures we took, we had workshop with Mr. Art Kimura, the head of Hawaii university professors in charge of STEM education.  Two group gave presentations in English, and eleven professors gave us precious advice.  We decided to continue the experiment farther.  At the same time, we realized the importance of communicating in English.  We appreciate the professors’ valuable advice.
