about Matsuyama Minami High School

Ehime Prefectural Matsuyama Minami High School has been designated as a Super Science High School (SSH) by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology since 2002. We have been researching and developing programs for science education in cooperation with universities and research institutes. We try to bring fascinating and inspiring science activities not only to our students but also to the local community. Each of our students does a great deal of individual research, and because of their strenuous effort, they have won prizes in various kinds of science fairs.

September 24th (Tue)309HR: Kimura Nagi joined “GSC Hiroshima Jump Stage in Australia”

2019年12月10日 17時10分

Kimura Nagi (309HR) took part in the fieldwork from September 1st to 7th.  She started “Hop Stage” in May and advanced to “Step Stage” and “Jump Stage.”
She received the instruction from the professors at Hiroshima University.  The other day she presented the results of her study in Jump Stage over the 6 months and completely finished her program.  During the fieldwork in Australia she could have experiences only in Australia, such as a homestay, visiting two natural parks and joining the local agricultural festival.  She was able to learn cultural differences.
In the poster presentation on the fifth day, although she was nervous in front of the local audience, she did well and got confidence making use of her experience.
In some scientific programs, “MARS Mission in Hamilton secondary college” of the 6 the day was probably the most exciting experience for her.
They were divided into two groups.  One was a group of operators who give instructions.  The other was examiners to survey the surface of Mars.  She had to complete the missions with a real space suit on.  It was really exciting.
For seven days she increased her motivation to study.  It was a precious experience for her although an entrance examination of university was coming closer.  Let’s try to challenge, first and second graders.
